One Month Old

Tomorrow is December 13th, Blake is one month old!  Here are a few new pictures.  I'm learning to use Nick's camera, so fun!!  We had professional pictures taken this past Sunday, I'm excited to see them! They will be posted to a website so I'll make sure and let everyone know what it is

This is what a tired baby looks like :(

.

Motherhood is pretty much what I expected, okay, maybe a little harder at some points.  Blake kinda goes back and forth with sleeping, one night she will do great, then the next will be sleepless.  Nick was out of town twice recently so I braved it alone....we did okay, but we were definately glad Nick came back!!  This probablly sounds ridiculous, but I didn't know babies cried so much ?!?  It's soooo hard to hear your child cry, I didn't know I could feel so worried and heart broken just at hearing her cry.  I know I can't hold her every minute, so I try to find a balance....Lord help me :)  Motherhood comes with so many things you can doubt yourself on.
I'm hoping I'm not the only one to have these emotions.

I must say I miss my family more now that Blake is here.  I wish they could see her more often and see how fast she is changing.  I'm so glad we will be spending a week at home on Christmas so everyone can see her again.  She is so lucky to have three sets of Grandparents that love her.
My friend Jennie is expecting her little one any day now, I can't wait!
I'm so excited to have such a goodfriend close by that will be experiencing the same thing,
and Blake will have a new friend :)

The waiting game

Another doctor's appointment today, and no change happened this week.  Last week kinda got our hopes up thinking maybe I would be progressing, but nope :(

The doc is already talking indcution dates....it all depends on what happens this next week.  I really would rather not be induced if possible.  It looks like the VERY latest we would go in would the November 26th (19 days) but I am praying she comes on her own well before that (like tonight would be good for us!)  Some other dates she mentioned were the 17th, which is our due date, or the 21st, which is the day before thanksgiving.  I got the CUTEST little thanksgiving newborn outfit, so she has to arrive before thanksgiving!  haha.

In other baby news there are three guys at Nick's company that are having kiddos, so today they had a shower for them, they had to suck cola from baby bottles, taste test baby food, and change diapers on a doll blindfolded.   hehehehe......Nick was proud he won the drinking from the bottle contest.  I WISH i had pictures to post.
Love,
Sarah

Happy Late Halloween

Happy Halloween!
Here is a pic of Nick and I...Me a witch and Nick the all-feared toilet paper mummy.  Our tire blew out on the way to the party and Nick had to change the tire in his "costume"...there was very little left to show for the 4 rolls of toilet paper when we finally arrived.  He was a good sport though.

This is Alexis our neice and Bax one of our dogs...the LOVE each other.  Bax is so gentle with her, lets her pull and tug and never makes a sound...I think he enjoys it!  It's nice to know that he will be gentle with Blake ;)

Doctor Doctor...

I've been going to the OB Doc weekly now to check the progress of the pregnancy.  I had an appointment today....we're doing the regular thing, she feels to check the position of the baby and has this strange look on her face, she proceeds to feel and feel and FEEL.  (pretty uncomfortable), then looks at me and explains that she thinks the baby may be breech...Most all of you know that means Blake's feet are pointed downward instead of her head.  It's not an emergency or anything, but I do have to go get an ultrasound done tomorrow to find out for sure what position she is in.  I'm praying she's NOT breech, so we can proceed as planned.  If she is breech we have a few options, we can try to have her "turned" by professionals, which doesn't sound  like fun at all to me, or we can schedule a section and keep checking her to see if she turns on her own.  I'll be sure and let everyone know tomorrow, so say a prayer that Blake's little head is down where it is supposed to be!!!

Here are a few pictures from a shower last Friday, we had a great time. I haven't figured out how to put pictures in a cohesive order, so they are just randomly up! I must say I have a great set of friends, and I'm lucky to have all of them.

My friend Jennie made the invitations, they are so sweet.

Showers!

Last weekend I had showers thrown by my Mom's family AND Nick's family. Everyone was so generous, it was nice to have a whole weekend to visit with the women in our families. The pregnancy is going great, I feel good and am counting down the weeks to Blake's arrival. Right now we are at 6 weeks!! I can't believe it has flown by so quickly. I go through days when I can't wait, then days when I'm completely nervous! She definately knows how to throw her weight around in there, watching her move around is our nightly entertainment. Nick's been telling her to come on out...hahaha. I start going to the doctor every week now. Everything is coming together. I can't wait for you all to meet her!!! Here are a few pictures from this past weekend.

Barker Family Reunion

The reunion was fun, the rain held off for the afternoon...so we were able to enjoy home cooking, sack races, the view of Toad Suck park, and all the Barkers in one place! I won the door prize, it's a homemade pillow with pictures of the family on it. Alexis won the "Youngest Barker" and PaPa won the "Oldest Barker". I ran off and left my camera, but Rennette was nice enough to send me some of her pictures...here ya go. On a side note....the weather lastnight for our flight home did not hold off, so we spent about 3 hours in the luxury of Little Rock Nat'l Airport with a 6 month old :) She was a trooper and thank goodness fell asleep 5 minutes before we boarded and didn't make a peep the whole flight home.

Here we come!

This weekend will be the big Barker Family Reunion. We haven't been in a few years and I am so excited to see everyone. I love that it is a whole day to spend with just family and catch up since we live a state away. Nick really has an awesome family, they are so close knit and loving. If I could chose one person on Earth to be when I am a Grandmother it would be Dollie Barker, she amazes me how she knows every birtday of every child, grandchild, great-grandchild and even all of their spouses. She speaks up when it is called for and I LOVE that! She loves Christ and serves him with her life. What an inspiration.

Thanks to all of you who have been praying for Baby Blake..I read this verse and it reminded me how much God loves her too.

Psalm 76:1 Yes, you have been with me from birth;from my mother’s womb you have cared for me.No wonder I am always praising you!

My Baby Bump!

Here's a picture of me pregnant at 6 months :0)

Last night she had her first bout of hiccups, so funny. Nick loved it because it was constant movement that he could feel.

Blake's Room

Here is what we have done to Blake's room so far. Many thanks to Dad and Nick for painting and putting up the chair rail...it's my favorite part of the room. Thanks Nita for the beautiful crib and dresser. Thanks Memom for the awesome changing table, I love it! Thanks Kim for all the decorative items, the hamper and the glider rocker. All that's left is hanging some things on the walls, and we are just having a hard time figuring out where we want to put them.

With the next post I'll have a baby bump pic for everyone to see!!

I'm Committed!

Hello! This is it! I WILL blog. The main reason I've started this blog is to have a place our family can come check out new pics and keep up with Nick and I. So here goes.....Baby news, the baby is coming along beautifully! My belly keeps growing and growing. I'm finally starting to get asked when I'm due and have random people reach out to touch my belly, which oddly enough I haven't minded...mainly because when I see a pregnant person ALL I want to do is touch their belly, knowing that life is contained there is amazing to me. She kicks and kicks and kicks these days. I love just lying down and watching my belly move!!

The room is in the finally stages...I promise to post pics tomorrow for all to see. It's so cute and I can't wait to have her in it!

Well keep coming around, I promise to blog, and post pics of the baby girl when she arrives.....OH, and here's a little tidbit of info....her name is Lindsay Blake Barker. It's my middle name and Nick's middle name. We will call her Blake :)
