Daaa-Daay!!

Blake's favorite word is currently "Daa-Daay".  She has been saying it all morning :).  I think it is because we got to all be together over the weekend and even though she is exhausted, she loved it. She slept till 9:15 this morning, which is a new record for us.  I am really working on "Mommy", I willl keep you posted on how that goes.

So anyway, here are the best buddies....Blake and the best DaDay in the world

In Memory

We traveled to Arkansas Thursday night to be with Nick's family.  His grandpa passed away Thursday morning.  The service was very nice, I had never been to a military burial, and it was very moving...I loved watching the American flag be folded. Here is a little info I found on the meanings behind the folds of the flag (there is speculation whether these meanings are endorsed by the U.S. Military, but would like to think they are.)

*The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.

*The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.

*The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing our ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.

*The fourth fold represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance.

*The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong."

*The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States Of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

*The seventh fold is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.

*The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on Mother's Day.

*The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood; for it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.

*The tenth fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since they were first born.

*The eleventh fold, in the eyes of a Hebrew citizen represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

*The twelfth fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.

When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding us of our nation's motto, "In God We Trust".

The bugle was played giving the time a beautiful meaning that words could not give.

I am so proud to be a part of the Barker family.  It is filled with women that love the Lord and their families.  Women that know when to speak up for what they believe in and also know when to keep things in their hearts.  I am so thankful for Chris, Gay, Debbie, Rennie, and of course MaMaw.

You can go to Rennie's blog (www.ree-view.blogspot.com) to see pictures of PaPaw.

For PaPaw Barker

Nick's grandfather is holding on to his last hours, we will most likely be traveling to Arkansas for the funeral by the end of the week.   I haven't really let myself process what's happening, and I don't think Nick has either.  Would you please pray for peace for our family and that PaPaw would enter HIS gates with praise and thanksgiving....

This is a Matt Redman song that keeps coming to my head when I think of losing someone you love.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I'm caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won't turn back
I know you are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

(Chorus:)
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We'll live to know You here on the earth

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

I have a computer!

After going several days without my laptop, I now have a working computer!  I still do not have my documents or pictures, but hopefully will in the next few days.  It is a very traumatic experience when your computer crashes and burns!!  I'm trying to make my new computer my own, getting the settings how I want them and all the programs I use on here.  I don't have my image resizer that I prefer, so sorry if the pictures are blurry today.

Blake loves playing outside!

~~~wooooooooooooooo pig sooiee~~~
We got Blake a bike seat this week, we really enjoy taking her out for rides in the evenings...she likes it too.   How cute is that little bitty helmet?!?
New Stuff (and Happy 10 Months Blaker)
Here are lots of pictures and video to make up for my recent slacking....none of it is particularly enthralling, so we're going for quanity today :)
Blake reading "Humpty Dumpty"...but we change the ending for her so he gets put back together in the end....how sad is the original version?!?
This is how poor Benson has to eat...j/k but we really do have to feed him when Blake is asleep so she doesn't take a few bites for herself.
It's okay because they love each other...I'm so proud of them for getting along lately :)
They really are like brother and sister, trying to annoy each other all the time.
Arrrrrrrrrrrr. Pirate Face.
A preview of what Blake will be in for Fall Festival
I hope you can understand me in this video...I was laughing so hard....it really made my day.
The evidence!
Blake turned 10 months old on the 13.  I wish I could slow the days down, but they just keep flying by........
On a serious note, could you please keep both my Grandpa and Nicks Grandpa in your prayers.  They are both in the hospital right now, it is very hard to be here when our families are going through trials in Arkansas.
We went to the doctor this morning, Blake's rash is something that comes after a viral infection...so just benadryl and wait it out.  The doctor said she's not contagious.
Nick is home again today, he had a 103 fever this a.m.
Our lives have been very busy, I have more pictures, just not the time or energy to pull them from my camera yet :)
Nick is sick (fever, feeling crummy, etc) AND Blake has had a rash/occassional fever that doesn't want to go away.  I am taking her to the doctor in the morning, hopefully it's just an allergy..good thing I feel well!!
We don't.....
We don't eat paper, Blake.
This is one of the MOST said lines in our house.  Why, you ask.  Blake would eat paper all day if we would let her....she LOVES paper..  We are constantly
"fishing" for some out of her mouth.  Of all the things, I wonder what she likes so much about it.
I've started a Ladies Bible Class and and am so excited.  I've needed a structured study for so long now, one that keeps me accountable and excited.  I truly want to grow closer to Christ and be on fire for him.  God is teaching me and leading me to a higher place of worship and sacrifice. We meet Tuesdays and Blake goes to the nursery, a bit nerve-racking, but it's been going really well.  I like that she gets to play with other babies just her age. They take the babies to "chapel" where they sing with the big kids, how cute that must be.  It makes me feel really good about all that is to come with her changing and growing.
Tonight we are going to try out a "Little Gym" class with Lindsay and Lexi.  I will try to snap some pics.
Here is a picture of Blake trying to eat a Kleenex.
